Adopt a Schnauzer / Schnauzer / Mixed

Schnauzer / Schnauzer / Mixed Dog

Gray the Dog needs a home

SPECIAL NEEDS DOG - Please read carefully before considering putting an application in for Gray.

At only 5 years old it is hard to believe Gray has had congenital kidney issues her whole life. It did take us awhile to figure out to what degree the condition affected her adoptability and life expectancy. If she is kept on her special kidney food and visits a vet for frequent bloodwork then she could live a full life.

Gray certainly is not an easy snuggly dog, which we feel may have have something to do with her condition. She is as anxious schnauzer (now on meds) who seems confused about the proper way to react to even the simplest touch. She will take a long time to trust anybody new in her life and having a buddy that already knows the ins & out may help her confidence. This buddy should be under 20 lbs, as big dogs tend to receive quite a bit of schnauzer attitude.

Yes, Schnauzer Attitude! If you know what this means and are willing to put up with it then please consider Gray. With the time she has spent in her foster home we have learned her snapping triggers. So far we know she should never be awoken without expecting her Elivis snarl and a snap. She is also not easily groomed or have proper manners when visiting the vet. This is mostly because they both tend to have to touch her face and bum areas. Because of her tendency to react by snapping she will not do well in a home with children or with anyone who's reaction time is slower than average.

So do you have patients, understand a schnauzer attitude, are willing to continue medical care and already have a small dog who is looking for a friend? Well then you may be a good fit for Gray. She really is a good girl once you give her a chance and she eventually connects to you through time and trust.

Gray is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, on my monthly flea/tick and Heartworms preventatives. If you would like to adopt her, please fill out an application using this link: https://www.secondchancenc.org/adopt-a-pet/dog-adoption-application/?src=sidebar
